What is the Cycle to Work scheme?
Cycle to Work allows eligible employees to obtain a bike and cycling equipment through their employer, with payments normally taken from salary. Because the arrangement can reduce the amount of Income Tax and National Insurance you pay, it can make buying a new bike or cycling equipment significantly more cost-effective.
Your exact saving depends on your circumstances, salary and the scheme used. There are no up-front costs payable to Winspace UK when initially placing your Cycle to Work order.
We accept all Cycle to Work schemes and are registered with scheme providers as Tailwind Cycles Ltd.
1 - Choose your products
Choose the complete bike, frameset, wheelset or other eligible products you'd like to purchase and add them to your cart.
If you're ordering one of our custom-built complete Winspace bikes, configure the main price-affecting options on the product page in exactly the same way as any other customer. You don't need to know your complete specification at this stage.
After you place the order, we'll automatically send you our build sheet to collect details such as frame size and colour, handlebar size, gearing, crank length, tyres, saddle and setup preferences.
If you're unsure about any of those choices, simply leave them blank and we'll discuss them with you.

2 - Select Cycle to Work Voucher at checkout
When you reach checkout, select Cycle to Work Voucher as your payment method.
No money is taken and you don't need to enter any bank-card details.
The system simply registers your order and sends you an order confirmation. If you've ordered a complete bike, you'll also receive the same build-sheet request used for our other custom-bike orders.
Your order confirmation provides the total value of your order and can be used as the quote or supporting information you need when applying for your Cycle to Work voucher.
3 - Calculate your savings
You can use the calculator below to estimate your potential savings and monthly cost. Don't worry if your employer doesn't use Green Commute Initiative - the calculator can still provide a useful indication. Your employer or scheme provider can confirm your actual saving, maximum voucher value and repayment arrangements.
4 - Request your voucher
If you decide to go ahead, request the appropriate voucher through your employer and their chosen Cycle to Work provider.
We are registered with the schemes as Tailwind Cycles Ltd.
As soon as you receive your voucher reference or any other details required to process it, send them to us.
5 - We validate your voucher and process your order
We'll validate the voucher details with the scheme provider and process your order.
Once your voucher has been validated and processed, you're committed to the purchase.
From this point, your order proceeds in the same way as an order originally paid for by bank card.
For a complete custom-built bike, we'll agree your detailed specification with you and send you a formal build sheet listing everything we've agreed. You'll approve that specification before we order the components and proceed with your build.

Which Cycle to Work schemes do you accept?

Do you charge a Cycle to Work fee?
No. Winspace UK does not add a Cycle to Work administration fee to your purchase.
How does Cycle to Work save me money?
Cycle to Work arrangements can allow payments to be made from your salary before Income Tax and National Insurance are deducted, potentially reducing the effective cost of your bike and eligible equipment.
The exact saving depends on your individual circumstances and the scheme operated by your employer. You can use the calculator above for an indication and your employer or scheme provider can confirm the exact figures that apply to you.
How long will it take?
The time required to obtain a voucher depends on your employer and Cycle to Work provider.
Once we've received and validated your voucher details, we'll process your order. For individual products such as framesets or wheelsets, timescales will depend on whether the item is already held in UK stock or needs to be ordered.
If you've chosen a complete bike, completion time will be in line with our current build queue, which is typically around 3–6 weeks. We'll keep you informed as your build approaches.
Can I buy a custom-built complete Winspace bike?
Yes. Place your order through the website in exactly the same way as a normal complete-bike purchase, but select Cycle to Work Voucher as the payment method at checkout.
No payment is taken. We'll send you the same build sheet used for our other custom-bike orders and work with you to agree your complete specification.
Can I buy a frameset or wheels?
Yes. Cycle to Work vouchers can be used for eligible purchases such as framesets and wheelsets, subject to the rules of your particular scheme.
What if my items cost more than my maximum voucher value?
Some providers allow additional payments where the voucher doesn't cover the full purchase price, while others may have different rules.
Please check with your own scheme provider before relying on a top-up payment. You're also welcome to contact us and we'll help where we can.
Do I have to pay a deposit?
No payment is required by Winspace UK when you initially place an order using the Cycle to Work Voucher payment option.
Can I buy accessories such as a helmet or lock?
Yes, subject to the eligibility rules of your Cycle to Work scheme. If something you need isn't currently listed on our website, please get in touch and we'll be happy to discuss supplying it as part of your purchase.
Can I use a discount code or promotional offer?
No. Discount codes and promotional offers cannot be used with Cycle to Work purchases.
What name should I give my Cycle to Work provider?
Winspace UK is operated by Tailwind Cycles Ltd, which is the name under which we're registered with Cycle to Work scheme providers.
